Synopsis:

"Simplifying Prosthetics and Restorative Dentistry"

A materials explosion has come to dentistry and with it confusion exists among practitioners as to what materials to use and how to use them. We will discuss a multitude of materials and their impact on the treatment we render with an emphasis on providing better treatment with less stress and more predictable results. Included will be:
  • Understanding dental adhesives: Take the confusion out of total-etch verses self-etch adhesives and restorative materials. Learn when and where to use the self-etch cements, adhesives and flowable composites.
  • Soft tissue treatment for improved restorative results: Managing the pink to improve the overall esthetics of the smile when providing restorative treatment.
  • Endodontics vs Implants: Treatment planning decisions. When and how to make treatment planning decisions based on sound restorative principles.
  • Restoration of Endodontically treated teeth: The importance of restorative ferrule in an adhesive dental world. When to use posts and when they are not needed for restoration of endodontic treated teeth.
  • Endodontic coronal leakage prevention: How to prevent Endodontic failure with advances in endodontic obturation materials and coronal restorations to prevent Endodontic failure due to leakage.
  • Advances in removable prosthetics: Light-curable resin bases, flexible acetyl clasps and frames. Better results, less stress, happier denture patients.
  • Cad/Cam for implant hybrid and over-denture bars: Improving the accuracy, strength and precision of implant frames.
  • Free-standing vs Bar Over-dentures: Understanding how and when to use free-standing attachments and when a bar is needed for predictable long term results.
  • Mini-implants: Pit falls and indications. Discussion of when and how to use mini implants and improving denture retention.
  • Use of a unique implant for bypassing anatomy and avoiding grafting: Discussion on the Co-Axis implant and its use to avoid the mental foramen, maxillary sinus and improve prosthetic restoration while maximizing implant positioning within the available bone.
  • Simplified sinus augmentation for implant placement: A simplified technique for crestal sinus augmentation at implant placement will be discussed.
  • CBCT is it worth the additional treatment cost?: Discussion on the benefits of use of cone beam CT and when it should be considered during treatment planning. Additionally, we will discuss CBCT generated surgical stents and when they should be considered and when in-office stents can be fabricated for implant placement.
