Synopsis:

Successful implant reconstruction is dependent upon many factors; pre-surgical diagnosis and treatment planning, anticipation of the anticipated restorative result, proper occlusion, soft tissue management, and surgical guidance to insure suitable spatial positioning, fixation. The diagnostic phase is the foundation and innovations in implant and abutment design aid in the esthetics, function, and long term prognosis.

New surgical and prosthodontic paradigms have now been established which utilize advances in CT/CBCT imaging technology allowing clinicians an unprecedented appreciation of the patient's anatomy for pre-surgical assessment of dental implant receptor sites, bone grafting or other procedures. This presentation will demonstrate how new paradigms in pre-surgical planning can aid in the assessment implant receptor sites, soft tissue emergence profiles, determination of interproximal height of bone in 3-D, abutment selection, occlusal considerations, temporization, and how the ultimate esthetic and functional result can be achieved through various case illustrations.

Educational Objectives:
  1. Participants will learn about new 3-D diagnostic, treatment planning concepts and the "Reality of Anatomy."
  2. Attendees will understand tools to analyze implant receptor sites, and the "Triangle of Bone" concept.
  3. Attendees will learn how to predict implant abutments in advance of treatment, and the differences between fixture level and abutment level impressions.
  4. Participants will be exposed to a wide range of abutment choices, stock, custom cast, and new zirconia solutions.

Dr. Scott D. Ganz graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry - New Jersey Dental School. He completed a three-year specialty program in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. During this time Dr. Ganz was exposed to many different aspects of head and neck reconstruction, fabricating both intra-oral and extra-oral prostheses such as eyes, ears, noses, etc. This was followed by 25 years clinical experience (both surgical and restorative phases) with most major implant systems available today.

Dr. Scott D. Ganz in March of 2002 receiving his Fellowship certificate at the 17th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Osseintegration Meeting from Dr. Dayn Boitet Past President.

Dr. Ganz is well-published in various scientific and professional journals (over 60 articles). He has delivered presentations both nationally and internationally on Implant Dentistry and Computer Utilization for Diagnostic, Graphical, and Treatment Planning Applications in Dentistry.

He has been a featured speaker for numerous organizations including the Academy of Osseointegration, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American College of Prosthodontists, the American College of Oral Implantology, and the American Society of Osseointegration.
